A diver was someone who did the act of diving.

Following the London UFO crash in March 2006, BBC News 24 reporter Tom Hitchinson informed his viewers that the British Army sent divers into the wreck of the spaceship, where a body was found and brought ashore. (TV: Aliens of London) These divers also included UNIT personnel, led by Corporal J Frinkstein. (PROSE: Operation London)
Daryl Christofi was a diver; his first dive was in the South China Seas while he worked for the Merchant Navy, and by the 2010s, he was trying to retrieve valuable salvage from the sunken Elysium to fund future dives. He was also working on a book about his experiences. (PROSE: Daryl Christofi)
