Doctor Who Discovers Space Travel was the third Doctor Who Discovers educational novel published by Target Books. Its release date was 17 November 1977.

  • When a Sputnik satellite grazes the Doctor's TARDIS in flight in 1957, the Doctor, who was not aware that humanity's space explorations had begun this early in the 20th century, briefly believes he is under attack by Daleks.
  • The Doctor is already aware that some point in the 21st century, all the Earth's surface is being used for food production due to overpopulation, with no natural areas left on the planet.
