Eagle was a comic popular on Earth in the 20th century. It was read by the Navarino Murray during his stay at Shangri-La in 1959. (TV: Delta and the Bannermen)
In 1963, the comic featured the adventures of Dan Dare. One of his enemies was the Mekon. Gillian Roberts compared John Brent to the Mekon, giving him the nickname "the Martian," in spite of the fact that the Mekon was Venusian. (PROSE: Time and Relative)
