Edge of Night

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

The Edge of Night was a location in the Land of Fiction.

It derived from Greek mythology, specifically the story of Medusa and Perseus. Since the story had been written 2,000 years before humans discovered that the Earth was round, it appeared as the physical edge of the world. It was a barren place, consisting of nothing but rock and shadow, and existed in a state of perpetual twilight. Medusa dwelt among the ruins of the Athenian Temple, which stood atop a summit of the Edge. In a later evolution of the myth, the War Master accompanied Perseus, and as they walked towards the summit, they saw various champions whom the gods had sent after Medusa, but who had failed and been turned to stone. These statue-like figures included the god Hermes and several comic-strip heroes from the Hourly Telepress, whom the gods had recruited from their own fictional realm. (AUDIO: The Wrath of Medusa)
