Efik

The Efik were a tribe in the Kingdom of Dahomey. During the 18th century, they were one of the most notorious group of slavers in the area. By 1750 they were unable to provide the required amount of slaves from the neighbouring Araba tribe of Yaruda to the Europeans. Their village was cleared and put on ships to make up the difference.
