Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]
The Encyclopaedia Galactica originated in the works of Isaac Asimov and, being considered too generic to be copyrightable, has come to be used in a number of science-fiction contexts. It is frequently mentioned in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy as a sterner, less popular alternative to the titular Guide.
