Exploration

Exploration (or to "explore" or go exploring) was a discovery, or testing a theory and discovering the results. It was finding new locations that had not been seen by that individual, or their civilisation previously. It was one of the tenet's of the Doctor's travels, and generally one of the first things they and their travelling companions did upon exiting the TARDIS. There were old horror stories on Gallifrey about Time Lords explorers who were forced into chain regenerations in alien environments, each regeneration changing them further away from the norms of their culture.
