The Falklands, also known as the Falkland Islands, were eight hundred miles away from Laurie Island. William Cuthbertson and William Martin considered taking a dinghy to the Falklands when their expedition on Laurie Island was threatened. (PROSE: Mirth, or Walking Spirits)
The United Kingdom and Argentina argued over the islands for decades. In 1982, British soldiers landed at San Carlos (AUDIO: Eye of the Storm) and, in June, Argentina was defeated. Argentine troops fled the British Task Force and the Falklands were taken by the British. This conflict was known as the Falklands War. (COMIC: The Infinite Astronaut)
