We've got 456 ambassador and The 456. So are the 456 actually called 'The 456' or are they 456, with the 'the' added because of the way they're almost always phrased (there are times in Children of Earth where the 'the' isn't used). If though they are in fact 'The 456' then it really the Ambassador article should have a 'The' at the start of it, it being a member of 'The 456'. So what I'm really asking is the 'the' added because of a convenience of language or is it part of their name/designation? --Tangerineduel 17:45, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

"The 456" makes sense because it refers to an absolutely unique entity, while, at least in theory, the 456 could have more than one ambassador, so: "456 Ambassador". it has to do with the fine distinctions made by the English usage. --Stardizzy2 16:44, 19 July 2009 (UTC)

Initially I thought we should treat it like any other 'the' entity e.g. the Daleks. However, I think in tis case The 456 may be better. The 'the' is only dropped in dialogue when used as an adjective e.g. under 456 control, similar to e.g. under Dalek contol. On the other hand, I think maybe the 'the' should be dropped in favour of '456 (spicies)' or simply 456 if the page is not in us already. All the opening paragraph needs to say is 'The 456 is the human designation of an otherwise unknown alien race.' or similar. Taccer 07 22:50, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
