Recently there's been a few article creations along the lines of '...invasion of Earth'.
I think we need to set down some definitions of what this actually means.
According to Wiktionary the definitions of invasion, battle, conflict and war are as follows:
- Invasion: A military action consisting of armed forces of one geopolitical entity entering territory controlled by another such entity, generally with the objective of conquering territory or altering the established government.
- War: A conflict involving the organised use of arms and physical force between countries or other large-scale armed groups. The warring parties hold territory, which they can win or lose; and each has a leading person or organization which can surrender, or collapse, thus ending the war.
- Battle: A general action, fight, or encounter, in which all the divisions of an army are or may be engaged; an engagement; a combat.
- Conflict: A clash or disagreement, often violent, between two opposing groups or individuals.
Thoughts on any others or alternate definitions (that would apply on this wiki). --Tangerineduel 13:15, September 27, 2009 (UTC)
- I was thinking that we should focus on naming the articles after what they are called in the episode/book/whatever. If they call it a war, it's a war. If they call it an invasion, it's an invasion. If they don't name it, it's probably not really an important enough event to justify a page. It just seems like some of the conflict articles aren't anything more than small, unimportant events. -<15:19, September 27, 2009 (UTC)
- Yep, totally agree. Many of the 'conflict' articles don't even have any links to them and are often plot descriptions in disguise. --Tangerineduel 07:10, September 28, 2009 (UTC)
