As you probably know videos are now easier to insert into wikis so I have made a category and have so far uploaded 1 video. I think videos will be a great edition. For example instead on images in the box for episodes how about a short clip or trailer. Just a thought.--Skittles the hog 19:34, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
- Check out An Unearthly Child for an example. Thanks--Skittles the hog 19:47, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
- Well...I can possibly see the possibility of including DVD trailers linked to their respective pages. But Videos such as the 'An Un Earthly Child Ep 4 Part 1' are pretty much infringing copyright in a big way as they're on YouTube as the whole episode in 10 minute chunks.
- Also while videos are good at illustrating some things, they also increase page load time, and are hosted at their respective sites so we don't have any direct control over them (unlike images). --Tangerineduel 02:45, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
Yeah I was thinking about the copyright and load times too but the page itself does not take long but if people want to watch a video they will have to wait.--Skittles the hog 10:32, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
- I think that if we use small videos such as episode and DVD trailers as well as some of the Animation Big Finish uses from time to time to advertise their audio series (i.e Dalek Empire IV) it is a good way to make the wiki more dynamic and would allow users to interact with the wiki as for control a member of the wiki interested in pursuing this type of editing could great an account on youtube or whatever to host the videos giving us more control over them.
- If we do decide to use videos it should be limited to advertising items (such as trailers) so it does not infringe the rights of the copy right holders Dark Lord Xander 06:22, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
