Opening post[[edit source]]

I am attempting to use this wiki as a reader because I want to support independent wikis and I am trying to use them instead of Wikia/Fandom wikis whenever possible. However, I am really struggling to use this one in particular because, for me, the font size is just too big! Well, that is not exactly true...When I access on mobile things are basically perfectly sized. But when I access on desktop, it is like the wiki assumes I am still accessing from the mobile site and so increases the font size to compensate. It's just too big and shows too little content on the screen for my tastes.

I know this is more of a me issue and so I am trying to figure out how to customize my preferences to reduce the font size (that's literally the main reason I made an account). Does anyone know how I can edit my custom CSS to reduce the font size, or otherwise change my personal user preferences? I see preferences for increasing the font size are built in as gadgets but I cannot find any guidance on how to decrease it, and my (very basic and ill-informed) efforts to edit a custom CSS file have failed. The only thing I've done that helped is switch to Vector (2022), but that then gets rid of all the site theming.

I appreciate any support on this matter! --Khfan93 00:41, 18 May 2024 (UTC)

Discussion[[edit source]]

Font size seems fine for me (I'm using desktop). I'm not overly fond of the font itself but that's a different matter. How big is the font showing for you, Khfan93? — Fractal 00:51, 18 May 2024 (UTC)
It's dynamically resizing to the size of the window (again, as though I was accessing from a mobile browser). I am not sure how to explain the size but when I have the window full screen it is about twice the size of the default font on, say, Wikipedia. It becomes too small when I make the window about half the size of my monitor, and if I make it cover about two-thirds of the size of my monitor it looks about right. (My monitor displays at 2560 by 1440, so I think that is part of it. Reducing my resolution makes things a bit more proportional, at least).
I also realize that the custom CSS is working but it is only applying to the toolbar at the top of the site. The body text remains subject to the dynamic resizing. --Khfan93 01:00, 18 May 2024 (UTC)
For the record, I have the same monitor resolution, and have the same problem. The font size is inconsistent across window sizes - CodeAndGin | 🗨 | 20:12, 18 May 2024 (UTC)
I've just tried emulating your resolution and yeah, that's massive. I've found and removed the problematic line of CSS. Can you refresh your cache (usually ctrl+f5) and let me know if it's any better? Bongo50 20:18, 20 May 2024 (UTC)
Back to normal on my end =) - CodeAndGin | 🗨 | 20:26, 20 May 2024 (UTC)
Same here, this is what I was looking for! Thank you for addressing this on a site-wide level, I really appreciate it! --Khfan93 03:00, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
Great! Let me know if you notice any other quirks, particuarly related to screen sizes: it's very tricky to properly test monitor sizes that are bigger than my own. Bongo50 17:48, 24 May 2024 (UTC)
