Forum:Reference guides and Illustrated guides - merger
How do we actually define one from the other?
I was looking to merge the two articles Doctor Who reference books and Doctor Who illustrated guides to make an article with information, rather than just a list/gallery as they exist at the moment.
But looking between them there seems to be some indecision in what makes an "illustrated guide" and what makes a reference book. Is it a simple fact that one has lots of pictures and the other doesn't?
I'd say that's probably the worst way to decide what is and isn't a reference book.
Doctor Who: The Early Years, Doctor Who: The Sixties, Doctor Who: Regeneration, The New Audio Adventures: The Inside Story and Howe's Transcendental Toybox might all have pictures in them but they're all pretty weighty reference books as well.
I propose we merge not just the articles but also the categories, getting rid of Category:Illustrated guides and put it all into Category:Reference books. --Tangerineduel / talk 14:29, December 30, 2011 (UTC)
