Quite a few of the pages I look at or edit have so called rumours on them which in my view are just personal opinions. I firmly beleive that all rumours should always have sources cited or discussed first else be removed. What do other contributors think?

An example where rumours are getting ridiculous are on the The Next Doctor page Smokin Fish 16:38, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

Well I'm not entirely happy with such a section myself. I did start it just to have some place for the amount of unsourced information going into the articles, but I would be quite happy if it wasn't there at all. Jack's the man - 19:02, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

I'm also of Jack's the man's point of view. I'm don't like rumours, but having a section for people to post them is better than people posting the information everywhere (and the rumours section is the only place they should be placed). Other pages other than The Next Doctor usually refer to Myths that have been going on a while, some say Myths and rumours just to be all encompassing. If the rumours are going to be posted some sort of reference to back them up is certainly better than just random rumours/opinions. --Tangerineduel 14:58, 12 October 2008 (UTC)

Do you chaps think that speculative type rumours should be moved to the articles discussion page, or just wait until the episode is shown then remove them altogether? (Or just leave them where they are) Smokin Fish 09:52, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

Speculative rumours, based on absolutely no information should be in the talk page (if they have to go somewhere). As far as more solid (actually can you have more solid than speculative rumours?) anyways, the more known about rumours can be placed on in the rumours section, if only to stop the information spreading around the article (or the rest of the site). When the episode is broadcast most of the rumours should be removed or whittled down to those of encyclopaedic value. --Tangerineduel 14:48, 15 October 2008 (UTC)
