Forum:Susan now to be a disambig page

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference
IndexTech notes → Susan now to be a disambig page
Spoilers are strongly policed here.
If this thread's title doesn't specify it's spoilery, don't bring any up.

Since the wiki started, common first names have been disambiguated to a list of people who have that name. Hence, you'll find that articles like Peter, Kevin, David, Emily and Hope all give lists of people (and sometimes places) that share those names. But we've always stubbornly resisted when it comes to the very special name, Susan. Maybe it's because we know Susan Foreman isn't her real name, or because not enough people know that Susan Campbell is the name she did go by after marrying David Campbell. Whtever the reason, we've just let the number of references to Susan multiply into the hundreds.

Well, now that we've finally changed the article name to the proper Susan Campbell, it's time to cut the ties to plain, old Susan.

From here on out, Susan will be a disambiguation page. The current Susan (disambiguation) will move to just plain, old Susan like any other common forename. If you want to link to the Doctor's granddaughter, please use either Susan Campbell or Susan Foreman. Neither may be her real, birth names, but both are in-universe names to which the character answered.

This doesn't man, of course that you should display the name "Susan Foreman" in articles. Outside the confines of "An Unearthly Child", she was very rarely referred to by that name. So please get in the habit of pipe-tricking your way to "Susan" by typing:

[[Susan Foreman|Susan]]

Please note that there will be a period of time of about a week where there won't be any article at the page name "Susan". This is to allow the cache to clear and the link to that page to go completely cold. This makes it much easier to complete the writing of the massive disambiguation page.

Thanks :)

The MediaWiki cache decided to play nice for once, and so it was possible to do this changeover much more speedily than anticipated. Susan is now a disambig page and this mini-project has now been completed.
