Forum:The article called "the Doctor's scarf"
So I was just dropping some information into the Doctor's scarf. When I began to try to improve the structure of the article, I suddenly found it difficult because of the article's title. Didn't the Seventh Doctor regularly wear a scarf, too? Didn't the Second Doctor wear a scarf in at least The Abominable Snowmen? Didn't the First Doctor wear a scarf on occasion too? I'm pretty sure that calling the article the Doctor's scarf, when really the article is talking about the Fourth Doctor's scarf, is a bit misleading.
I suppose we could just include the other scarves worn by other incarnations, but honestly, they aren't that notable. The Fourth Doctor's scarf was a signature piece of clothing that had additional utility, and is every bit as iconic as the sonic screwdriver.
Anyone got a problem with the article being renamed the Fourth Doctor's scarf?

- I'd suggest adding the other scarves, however insignificant, to the one page, but if not, then it would have to be retitled. Tardis1963 talk 02:37, November 16, 2011 (UTC)
Do we really need that page at all? I know that it is an iconic part of 4's costume, but as far as I know we don't have pages for thing's like 11's bowtie, or Jack's coat. The only real reason that 4's scarf is more notable than other Doctor's scarves are is that his was an iconic part of his costume, but most of the Doctor's have fairly iconic costumes, as do plenty of other characters. When it comes down to it, the Doctor's scarf is really nothing more than a scarf.Icecreamdif talk to me 05:44, November 16, 2011 (UTC)
- I think though it is indeed a fine line, the Scarf is on the proper side of it. There are enough notable occasions where the Doctor not only wears his scarf, but uses it for things, as noted in the "Uses" section of the article; the Scarf ends up just as much of a tool and plot thread (heh, sorry) as many of the other things in Category:The Doctor's items. — Rob T Firefly - Δ∇ - 10:18, November 16, 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, I guess if Seven's umbrella gets an article than it makes sense for Four's scarf to have one. Still, Eleven's bowtie could be said to have uses (he used it for his wedding), as could their various hats (Seven used his against a Dalek in Rememberance of the Daleks, and I think Four used his for something in The Arc in Space) Icecreamdif talk to me 05:53, November 21, 2011 (UTC)
- I think the article is perfectly valid, but I don't think it should be renamed "the Fourth Doctor's scarf" as that's making it a little too specific and would mean to cover other Doctors we'd need The Doctor's scarf as well as "the Fourth Doctor's scarf" and even just a scarf for everything else. --Tangerineduel / talk 12:03, December 5, 2011 (UTC)
