Before creating a page for the term, was the word "taxi" used in the DWU, or was it only ever called "cab"? Yeah, it's kinda dumb sounding, but I'm just being safe. -- Tybort (talk page) 21:01, December 22, 2011 (UTC)
- This search: http://search.freefind.com/find.html?id=42551331&pageid=r&mode=ALL&query=taxi&s= came up with plenty of sources which have taxi's in them. So you are fine to use the term for the article. --Revan\Talk 21:09, December 22, 2011 (UTC)
- Both words are cut-down versions of "taximeter cabriolet." The taximeter is the devise that measures how far the vehicle has travelled. A cabriolet is the name of a particular sort of carriage. These are real-world etymologies. In the DWU, YMMV. Boblipton talk to me 01:04, December 23, 2011 (UTC)
- This is where your youth works against you. I refer you to City of Death part 4. The Doctor and Romana spend a good portion of time, mid-ep, trying to catch a taxi, and there are a few closeups of the word "TAXI" on top of cars.
