There used to be a "what links here" button on the editing page. With the layout revamp by Wikia a few months ago, that button seems to have been lost. Is it truly gone, or am I just not seeing its new placement? -- Gousha 07:09, March 13, 2011 (UTC)
- In the new Wikia design there is a toolbar along the bottom of the screen, which contains the headings "Share," "Follow," "My Tools" (a pop-up menu,) and "Customize." If you click "Customize," it will give you the option to put any of a number of specialised wiki functions into your "My Tools" menu, including "What links here." Once you've done that, you can use the pop-up "My Tools" menu to access "What links here" and your other tools of choice on whatever wiki page you're on at that moment. - Note, however, that you can run out of space quickly if you accept the full names of those tools. You might want to greatly reduce the title of those tools. For instance, I've reduced "what links here" to just the single word "link". Here's what my footer toolbar looks like:
- The problem is, however, that this bar does not appear when you're editing a page. That means it's harder to get a "what links here" report on a red-link. Which kinda sucks, because I find I often want to know what things are linking to a new page I'm currently editing. Sure, you can choose to look at the "Wanted pages" tool before you start to edit, but that's not as specific as looking at the "what links here" on a single page. I'm looking into ways of restoring what links here somehwere on the editing page, but for the moment, there is a genuine, if minor, loss of functionality, thanks to Wikia's changes.
