Forum talk:How many Doctors?
I recall hearing the Brain of Morbius argument years back, but it seems much more likely that the unknown faces pictured in that encounter were various past incarnations of Morbius, not the Doctor. We do see Morbius' current "Frankenstein-like" incarnation in there as well. As to the age inconsistency thing, it never bothered me too much. The Doctor does often play fast and loose with the details of things, and it seems like age is something he would approximate, exaggerate, or perhaps understate sometimes. Plus, given the relative nature of time (for example, travel near the speed of light for a little while and you age much more slowly to an outside observer), and given that he's from an entirely different planet than the people he's talking to most of the time, what kind of "year" does he mean? Maybe he uses different units of measurement at different times. Spreee 19:00, 23 July 2008 (UTC)Spreee
- I've always chalked the varying ages up to vanity. In fact, there's a scene (from where, I can't remember) when Romana points out that he's lying about his age. As someone who himself regularly lies about his age, I can sympathize. Monkey with a Gun 03:11, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
I have always wondered what would happen during an encounter such as the 3 or 5 Doctors in which an earlier Doctor (say, Doctor # 3) is injured to the point he regenerates (as opposed to a true death where all the subsequent Doctors would vanish). Does he regenerate into the next incarnation, into a double of the same Dr.or does it create a "split" time stream?JTFinME 20:11, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
