Fraal was a Farrashian scientist.
Fraal was part of a group of scientists attempting to preserve their species, which was slowly dying out due to radiation from their sun. She was vehemently opposed to another group's methods, supported by the Leader, to abort foetuses to use the brain matter for animate bodies.
Fraal met Sarah Jane Smith when Sarah and the Fourth Doctor visited Farrash. Fraal rescued Sarah during a protest that turned violent. Fraal expected that Sarah would support her cause because the Doctor supported the Leader's cause. Fraal's group experimented on animals, to Sarah's disgust.
When the Leader was killed, Fraal and the other officials had to work together to solve their world's problems. (PROSE: Rights)
