Franq was the chief engineer of a Mondasian colony ship (PROSE: Jorj) which got stuck in the orbit of a black hole (TV: World Enough and Time) on Franq's birthday.
He was sent with a team (PROSE: Jorj) twenty-one strong into the lower levels to reverse the ship's thrusters (TV: World Enough and Time) by the Captain. (PROSE: Jorj) Due to the relative time distortions now occurring between floors of the ship due to its proximity to the black hole, the team was unable to make it back to the top floor, instead settling in the lower levels and becoming the source of an entire people.
