Fred was a character from Scooby-Doo.
Toshiko Sato asked Owen Harper which Scooby-Doo character he would be while heading into the basement of the Torchwood Hub. Owen replied "Oh, Fred, definitely", but Tosh thought that he reminded her more of Shaggy. (PROSE: Trace Memory)

- In response to a fan suggesting a story where the Doctor met the Scooby gang, the official Big Finish Twitter account posted an image depicting, among other things, Fred with the Tenth Doctor's head.[1]
- Fred is voiced primarily by veteran American voice actor, Frank Welker, who has played him ever since the original 1960s Scooby series. Naturally, he reprised the role in LEGO Dimensions [+]Loading...["LEGO Dimensions (video game)"].
- In the Scooby-Doo-inspired parallel universe that appears in The Daft Dimension 489 [+]Loading...["The Daft Dimension (DWM 489 comic story)"], Jenny Flint takes on the role of Fred.
