Gübernator

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

Gübernators were a biomechanical species of space-faring squid-like creatures encountered by the Doctor on multiple occasions.

Biology[[edit] | [edit source]]

The Gübernators were living creatures but mainly metallic. Visibly, they somewhat resembled an Earth squid but had very different capabilities. They were able to talk in a robotic voice but could malfunction badly upon being damaged, such as being exposed to the Time Vortex. Each Gübernator was fitted with an anti-crash self-destruct mechanism.

Notably, the Gübernators had the ability to attach themselves to the heads of other species, forcibly taking over their brains in the process. When doing so, they would fit atop the top half of their victim's head. Their self-titled brigade used this to steal successful pilots to use as their own in space battles. (COMIC: Untitled)

History[[edit] | [edit source]]

The Brigade of Gübernators once landed in 1917 to capture the Red Baron, but they were quickly fooled by the Fourteenth Doctor and Donna Noble who were accidentally captured too. There, the Doctor claimed that he had once dealt with the brigade in a former incarnation in the Bermuda Triangle in 1976.

However, a single Gübernator snuck on the roof of the Doctor's TARDIS and travelled around with it as it flew uncontrollably through time and space, eventually ending up on board where it tried to capture Donna, believing her to be the ship's pilot. Attacking the Doctor instead, it was eventually deposited high above 1970s London where it self-destructed. (COMIC: Untitled)
