Gate Room

The Plume Coteries' Library had two Gate Rooms: the Void Gate Room and the Cosmic Gate Rooms, corresponding to the Void Gate and Cosmic Gate respectively. Each Gate Room had a main reception desk, with it being a great honours among the Plume Coteries to man either; the purpose of the receptionist was chiefly to ensure that everyone who had entered through a given Gate should leave through that Gate and not the other, lest the Library become an unmonitored way in and out of the universe.
For mysterious reasons, while the contents of the infinite Library were largely randomised, maps of the Library itself could only be found near the Gate Rooms. (PROSE: The Cactus and the Corpse [+]Loading...["The Cactus and the Corpse (short story)"])
