Gralstead House

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

Gralstead House was the home of the Scrivener family in Highgate, London. It was built in 1733 by Sir Joseph Scrivener. It had a family mausoleum.

It was home to a so-called family curse in which the skies appeared to shift, which was in fact simply the representation of looking down a portal into another part of the galaxy, focused on the house, from which Mordrega could enter into Earth. In 1850 the first of these apparitions occurred, in which the sky was cast in a cold, burning light. In the light an ethereal shape, a phantom came down, called by Clementine Scrivener "Sir Palito the Noble, wreathed in icy flame like a fiercesome warrior from Elf Land". Palito gave them a "helm of silver chainmail" the Corona of Alsion. He was buried in an unmarked coffin, where he slept in long-term hibernation, by cutting one silver link from the Corona.

In 1860 another apparition occurred, this time bringing Mordrega. After six months she and Edward Scrivener occupied the house, where the basement housed the numerous dead she consumed for their brains. (AUDIO: The Ghosts of Gralstead)
