Gundar's descendant

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference
You may be looking for the original Gundar.

A descendant of the viking Gundar, whose last name remained Gundar, was a sailor in the 20th century.

One day, he was shipwrecked and ended up making his way to an unrecorded island where he met a group of Vikings. Unaware that he was a descendant of Gundar, they explained that they were Gundar's old crew, cursed by the original Gundar to spend an undying eternity on the island. After hearing the tale, the modern-day Gundar began to unspokenly wish that the curse would be lifted, and this sufficed for the curse to indeed vanish, with the Vikings returning to their home era, freed from their imprisonment outside time. Immediately afterwards, a passing cruise liner noticed him on the shore of the island and changed course to rescue him. He speculated that "Fate herself" had brought him to the island so that he could undo the curse. (COMIC: Dr. Who's Time Tales)
