Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]

The village where Nest Cottage is located goes unnamed in Hornets' Nest and Demon Quest, with the name "Hexford" first appearing in Serpent Crest. In 2010, between the releases of Hornets' Nest and Serpent Crest, Paul Magrs wrote an unlicensed comic called The Housekeeper published in VWOORP! VWOORP! magazine which named the village "Darkholmes". The second story of Serpent Crest, The Broken Crown, mentions Darkholmes as being a neighbouring village to Hexford. When Magrs reused Darkholmes in the novel Fellowship of Ink, he introduced Hexford College as a location in the village. In Magrs' Baker's End series, Nest Cottage is referred to as Baker's End, with the village being known as Happenstance Village. While the series isn't currently a valid source on this Wiki, one valid source does use these alternate names.
