Helheim had a toxic atmosphere made mostly of sulphur and carbon oxides. It also had electrical storms and acid precipitation. The Cractids were its native species. (AUDIO: Cobwebs)

Helheim housed a Genetech research facility, where the human staff conducted studies on how to cure an extremely deadly disease known as Richter's Syndrome, which had claimed over six billion lives. They were particularly invested in the native Cractids, as they were the only species who demonstrated a natural immunity to the virus. (AUDIO: Cobwebs)
