In Bad Wolf, the Ninth Doctor discusses the show Bear With Me with Lynda, and they both recall a specific incident from the show. Except that the Doctor isn't from the same time line as Lynda. In his version humanity went to the stars to form the Fourth Great and Bountiful Human Empire.

So how did they both remember the exact same episode of the same show? Was it just that good?

Dare I say it? "Wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey". That episode may very well have been the only event congruous between the two timelines. —BioniclesaurKing4t2 - "Hello, I'm the Doctor. Basically, . . . run." 20:25, August 1, 2013 (UTC)
What do you mean by exact same episode or specific incident? I thought the Doctor was describing the premise and asking Lynda if the Game Station was broadcasting the show? Maybe Bear with Me dates as far back as the late 20th and early 21st century in the DWU. -- Tybort (talk page) 16:36, August 2, 2013 (UTC)
I mean specific incident. They had a shared memory of an incident in a celebrity episode where Bear fell in the bath. Daisy Chainsaw 18:10, August 20, 2013 (UTC)DaisyChainsaw
I still feel from the dialogue it's the premise of a celebrity format of the show or comes off as it. "The celebrity edition where the bear got in the bath..." "Celebrity edition" doesn't mean a specific year or episode, it's like Pointless Celebrities or Celebrity Big Brother as a whole. At least that's how I interpreted it.
Failing that, rerun? We have channels now that repeat old runs of game shows and panel shows in the UK. -- Tybort (talk page) 03:03, October 26, 2013 (UTC)

Perhaps in The Doctor's timeline that show existed but was slightly less deadly. And didn't star people who had no intention of being on it. 87.102.91.126talk to me 20:06, August 8, 2013 (UTC)

Or, it just existed before Satellite Five was set up, regardless of any altered timeline. I don't know if it's directly said in-universe that the real-life shows are from the 21st century, but I'm sure that Rose, who's originally from 2005, appears to recognise what The Weakest Link is. -- Tybort (talk page) 21:34, August 8, 2013 (UTC)

Well before Satellite Five, contestants probably weren't Earth citizens "reaped" at random. Although you're probably right that it was a show pre-Satellite Five because most other shows in the episode were. 87.102.91.126talk to me 21:49, August 8, 2013 (UTC)
