I've just cracked [Comic] Prisoners of Time #1 - and on page 3, there it is: "He is never alone." This theme is something that turns up again and again, in every incarnation - while with the other hand, we see the Doctor plenty of times travelling alone, and casually so. I get why it's a cool story angle, but if it's going to be canon, then it needs to be canon. It can't be when-it's-convenient/interesting-canon. Sigh. Just saying. That's not the only example of a writer saying, in effect, "Hey, this is a cool idea for a story -- & never mind that it contradicts a whole load of stuff throughout the Doctor's history!" It may well be a cool idea for a one-off story but no DW story is a one-off. In the end, no matter how good a story idea is in isolation, if it doesn't fit -- if, say, it takes the Doctor drastically out of character without a really, really good explanation -- it doesn't work. --2.101.55.122^{talk to me} 10:16, February 12, 2013 (UTC)
