In Let's Kill Hitler, Professor Candy asks River why she wishes to study archaeology in the 52nd century. Yet in Moffat's first Doctor Who short story, Continuity Errors, there is also a Professor Candy two and a half millenia earlier, dealing withBernice Summerfield. Anyone think this is mor ethan Moffat reusing the name? Boblipton talk to me 15:22, October 22, 2011 (UTC)

As this is Moffat, I'd not bet on it being as simple as reusing the name -- but I'd not bet the other way, either. I rather hope he has something in mind for the character. Although I don't think Moffat pulled off the Series 6 story arc as well as he should have (the finalé didn't really work), there's no denying he's good with characters whose relationships are complicated by time travel. I gather Series 7 is supposed to be less "arc heavy", which seems sensible. If Professor Candy turns out to be someone who interacts with River (and maybe other continuing characters) over centuries, whether out of sequence or not, that wouldn't need a burdensome story arc to make it work well. However, this is Moffat, so the only way to find out is to wait and see -- and not believe a word he says in interviews (or anywhere else) about the plot or characters until we do see what happens on screen. --89.240.248.120 23:31, October 23, 2011 (UTC)
