Howling:Rose, Jack, and the Bad Wolf
Please DO NOT add to this discussion.
In "The Parting of the Ways", Rose becomes the Bad Wolf entity and not only brings Captain Jack back to life, but makes him immortal...but how much of that does she know? In "Doomsday", she knew how she'd defeated the Emperor Dalek, but it's not clear if she remembered her time as the Bad Wolf or if the Doctor told her. In "Journey's End", she clearly didn't realize Jack was immortal, but did she know she'd resurrected him, or that he'd even died at first? She doesn't find it unusual to see him in "The Stolen Earth". Theories are fine, but I'm looking for solid factual information, if it exists. If the children in need special 2005 is treated as canon, then Rose thought he was still alive but the doctor made up an excuse that he was re building the earth. --Coop3 ☎ 20:07, June 23, 2013 (UTC)
- But did she think he was still alive from before, or did she know she'd brought him back, I wonder? Probably not at that point, at least, as the light from the Heart of the TARDIS was the last thing she remembered seeing, but did it come back to her later? Her description of "I met the Emperor...and I took the Time Vortex and poured it into his head and turned him into dust" from "Doomsday" seems like she knew what she'd done as opposed to just hearing about it from the Doctor. —BioniclesaurKing4t2 - "Hello, I'm the Doctor. Compare her confidence in delivery with her attempts to use The Doctor's words in the Christmas Invasion. It sure seems that she remembers what she had done, not just what she was told she had done. And apparently, of all the people killed on the station, Jack was the only one brought back to life/immortality. Which implies Bad Wolf focused on him specificly. (Rose and The Doctor had inspired Jack to heroism, but Bad Wolf turned him into a Classical Hero through immortality.)Phil Stone ☎ 06:01, June 24, 2013 (UTC)
It was clear she forgot everything she did, based on what she said afterward, and how she told Mickey in The Christmas Invasion that her memory of driving the TARDIS was even blocked away, "forbidden," like if she were to remember, the world would "blow up" or something. So, I am thinking not only was Jack's immortalization and everything else she caused as Bad Wolf wiped from her memory, but that she was not even fully conscious of the events while performing them; it seemed to me that there was a sort of mind meld with the Heart of the TARDIS, and it was the TARDIS' sight and manipulation of the Time Vortex, melded with Rose's mind, and merely driven by her will, that performed all those acts. Rose's basic desire was to help the Doctor and save Jack. So the Dalek fleet was destroyed and Jack became resurrected and immortal. All that to say, I think she gained all and any knowledge she had of the Bad Wolf event form being told by the Doctor. --76.22.37.60talk to me 06:24, May 26, 2015 (UTC)
