Hr'oln

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

Hr'oln was a scientist and last of the Cirranin.

A pioneer who ventured among the stars, Hr'oln survived a devastating war that destroyed their home planet. Hr'oln returned expecting a hero's welcome but found that all life on the planet had been wiped out - including the Vish, the Elpig, Grun, Fruzin, Kivurd, and Fuffox - and so traveled to another planet, however, the natives were afraid of their appearance. Hr'oln built an android, Eve, to communicate with them.

When a deadly plague affected the natives, Hr'oln devised suspended animation technology to save them, but it was too late. Heartbroken, Hr'oln told Eve of their plan never to let another species die out. Whereas Hr'oln had meant through conservation and education, Eve took the command literally and placed Hr'oln into suspended animation and created the Museum of the Last Ones to fulfill her mission of saving the final living specimen of every species from the entire universe.

When the Tenth Doctor and Martha Jones put a stop to Eve's quest, they discovered Hr'oln - who they initially believed to be Eve's first pet - and unfroze them. Hr'oln told the pair about their and Eve's history and the Doctor gave them a choice to return to their home planet before its destruction on the condition that they couldn't alter the history, although Hr'oln decided to remain at the Museum and rebuild Eve to continue their initial efforts towards species conservation.
