Incubation units were a type of special Dalek casing used for the mass-production of Dalek mutants. The casing consisted of a transparent globe, the maturation chamber, in which the genetic material of cultured cells were incubated – mounted on a truncated Dalek base with only two rings of sensor globes. Without this unit – and with only the smallest amount of genetic material to sample – non-Dalek technology also could be adapted to reproduce Dalek embryos on an industrial scale.
