Insurance was a type of contract and claim related to disasters and thefts.

The insurance contracts covering Henrik's department store made no distinction between the word "staff" in the singular or in the plural. As a result, after the store was destroyed in an explosion, the Henrik family's lawyers informed them that, since the body of Senior Caretaker Bernard Wilson had been found in the ruins, if the disaster could be blamed on Wilson, it could be leveraged to extend the blame to the entirety of the store's former staff, so no compensation would have to be paid.
