James Harker

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

The Very Reverend James Harker, also known as Jim, worked in the Department of Comparative Religion at St Oscar's University.

Biography[[edit] | [edit source]]

On his sixteenth birthday, James Harker was given a copy of Book of Maa'lon by an aunt. Although he did not believe in Maa'lon, he was a confused teenager and became a Follower due to his belief that the Code was a good way to lead one's life.

Harker became a reverend and joined the Department of Comparative Religion on Dellah, where he became acquainted with Bernice Summerfield and spoke with her several times about the Book of Maa'lon in the presence of Irving Braxiatel, but Benny did not listen to him.

Harker was surprised by the surge of belief in Maa'lon and shared with Benny and Braxiatel that he was afraid of the rumours of Maa'lon being on Dellah because of his own lack of faith. He went with Benny, Demka, Grenke and Shemda to Tal'een to investigate and witnessed Maa'lon's miracles, which made him truly believe in his god and fight the N'a'm'thuli. Later, he used Maa'lon's power to kill John. (PROSE: Where Angels Fear)

Harker became the link between Maa'lon and the Followers but, when presented with their god's decapitated head, he and the other Followers joined Tehke. Jason Kane managed to convince Harker to release him from his cell and he eventually realised that Tehke was not really a god. He was killed when the Ferutu transported Tehke away and destroyed Casmov power station. (PROSE: Twilight of the Gods)

Personality[[edit] | [edit source]]

Harker was a good-looking man in his thirties. He wore a tailored, high-collared suit. (PROSE: Where Angels Fear)

Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]

Although Where Angels Fear implied that Harker came from far away from Dellah, Twilight of the Gods stated that he was a Dellahan.
