Java was an island in the south of Asia.[1]

Java was an island located just off the south-east of Sumatra. To the north of Java was the island of Borneo. It was just one of a number of islands in the area. (TV: Survivors of the Flux) Its port of call was Anjer. (PROSE: Erasing Sherlock)

In Josiah Samuel Smith's household, death was euphemistically referred to as "going to Java". (TV: Ghost Light)
