Jefferson Davis was the first and only President of the Confederate States of America during the American Civil War from 1861 to 1865.

In February 1861, Jefferson Davis became President of the new Confederate States.
During the American Civil War, he lived in the Confederate capital Richmond, Virginia. By the end of the war in 1865, Davis had fled the city.
