John Bell (born 20 October 1997[1]) played Creet in the Doctor Who television story Utopia.

He won the role in a Blue Peter competition. He was not informed at the time that his character would die, but recalled being overjoyed. (DCOM: Who Peter)

Acting career[[edit] | [edit source]]

Doctor Who was John Bell's first role. He later starred in the film A Shine of Rainbows, played Anthony Weaver in Life of Riley, and Bain in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and The Battle of the Five Armies.

In February 2022, Bell also performed in a production of the play The Night Larry Kramer Kissed Me. This was particularly notable to Bell as the performance was the first time he had played a character of the same sexuality as himself - saying "it was nice to go back and play something a bit more true to me".[2]

Personal life[[edit] | [edit source]]

Bell is openly gay.[2]
