John Mark lit the torch at the 1948 Olympics in London. The Tenth Doctor, having watched those games, thought him a "lovely chap", and described his legs as being as thin as pipe cleaners, but yet surprisingly "strong as a whippet". The Doctor tried to recall the athlete's name, alternating between "John" and "Mark". (TV: Fear Her)
