John Walker, also known as John R. Walker, played a villager in the 1998 direct-to-video film Auton 2: Sentinel. This would be his only credited role in the Doctor Who universe, though he went on to appear as an uncredited extra in several episodes of BBC Wales-era Doctor Who.

In 2013, multiple national newspapers hyperbolically proclaimed Walker Britain's "most prolific extra",[1][2] following a story from a regional paper that helped to promote Walker's recent book Extra Time which detailed his experiences as an extra.[3] Later that year, he appeared in the second episode of Dave Gorman: Modern Life Is Goodish which touched upon the inaccuracy of the national headlines. In 2023, Walker released Stories from a Doctor Who TV Extra, containing "re-written and updated" accounts of his work on specifically Doctor Who and its spin-offs.
