K9 Mark 1 was one of two operational systems available for choice by K9 Mark I after he regenerated following self-destruction due to saving Starkey and his friends from the Jixen warriors.
He however chose K9 Mark 2 operational system to work on. (TV: Regeneration [+]Loading...["Regeneration (TV story)"])
