A laburnum was a type of tree. Once, when engaged in a philosophical discussion with the Tremas Master about the First Rani's traps which converted animal matter into vegetable matter, the Sixth Doctor remarked that the Master would probably turn into a laburnum. Laburnums, he pointed out, were poisonous. (TV: The Mark of the Rani)
