Las pelonas

"Las pelonas" was a Mexican-Spanish term that referred to brave, daring women who rebelled against traditional expectations to express themselves the way they wanted.
In 1920s Mexico, many men believed such women to be "unnatural and dangerous". In the summer of 1924, some of these women were attacked by a group of male students, by throwing water over them and shaving their heads.
