One night in 1289, after dining with Marco Polo and his caravan, Ian suggested they sing a 'rousing, noisy song'. Barbara suggested they sing "Loch Lomond", with the First Doctor recognising the song, saying it was shame they lacked any bagpipes.
The song ended with:
Oh, ye’ll tak’ the high road and I’ll tak’ the low road,
And I’ll be in Scotland afore ye,
but me and my true love will never meet again
On the bonnie, bonnie banks of Loch Looooomond.
