London County Mental Hospital
The London County Mental Hospital, formerly known as the London County Asylum, was a hospital located in London. In 1937, newlyweds Casey and Marie Ward were admitted five weeks after their wedding, after becoming stuck dancing to the song "The Band Played On" at their reception at their home, Wester Drumlins. The Wards remained patients at the hospital until their deaths on the same day, exactly one year after their wedding.
Journalist Rani Chandra found reports of the Wards' hospitalization while searching for records to confirm the couple's story, which had become memorialized as a supposed urban legend.
