MZ lasers were powerful lasers. One MZ laser was kept onboard Rorvik's slaver ship.
While trapped in the Gateway, Rorvik tried to use the laser to destroy the mirrors to escape the Gateway. However, the laser failed, and Adric later threatened to kill Rorvik and his crew with it if they didn't realease the Fourth Doctor and Romana II. (TV: Warriors' Gate)
