The manipulator was a device of Silurian construction which allowed them to interface with human computer technology. Even if the computer had been badly damaged or sabotaged, the manipulator could still work with it. Icthar plotted to use a manipulator to launch proton missiles in a bid to destroy humanity and reclaim the Earth. (TV: Warriors of the Deep)
