Hive Captain Mantis was in command of the Dravidian Hive Ship en route from the hatching World of Slovv. It witnessed the devastation caused by the Rain of Fire on the planet Ursulonamex and sought to replicate the weapon used after retrieving records from Orbit Station 3.
Being in the vicinity following the attack by the Darksmith Collective, they offered their assistance while in truth were repairing the life support systems and modifying them to create an oxygen-rich environment in which to better function.
Mantis was embarrassingly defeated when the Tenth Doctor repaired the life support systems and the Hive Captain had to be carried back to his ship by his crew. He swore revenge on the Doctor. (PROSE: The Planet of Oblivion)
