On 1 March, the following important behind-the-scenes events were known to have occurred:
- 1965 - Dudley Simpson recorded the music for The Crusade. (TCH 5)
- 1986 - BBC1 Controller Bill Cotton announced that Doctor Who would return from its temporary hiatus in autumn of that year. He also broke the news that the show would return to its 25-minute format. However, he misled fans by implying that the reason for the change of format was to increase the length of the broadcast season — something that did not at all prove to be true of season 23.

- Big Finish's audio anthology Strange Chemistry was recorded.
